“Welcome to Nedap Inc., our venture unique in the American market. We may be a little loud, we may be a bit too proud but we are Nedappers through and through!” Being ‘veterans’ of Nedap Inc. both Claudia Gallagher (Office Manager) and Jessica Vandewater (Human Resource Manager) have observed what the challenge is to embrace the Nedap culture and integrating that same culture in a way of working.

Nedap Inc., located on the East Coast of the USA in Burlington, Massachusetts, has been a pilot in process and systems testing for Nedap wide consideration for many years. Exclusive in this way, as they have been spearheading the shared customer service center which collectively supports four Nedap business units by effectively cross-training four back-office personnel. All of which have become familiar with the products and processes of each supported business unit. The finance colleagues have the task of understanding each business unit independently and collectively for sound financial support. This allows the commercial and technical teams to focus on global commercial strategies and giving them confidence that their joint administration can provide whatever they may need. “We are glad to be part of the proof of concept in the implementation of the general administration model at the Corporate level. This combination of shared administration intertwined with multiple business units is surprisingly a more complex endeavor than it may seem,” Jessica says. Thankfully, the US colleagues are multi-faceted, diversely skilled, diligent, and enthusiastic when facing the challenges to refine this collective structure. “We could not have achieved such positive results of our ongoing test environment without the continued support and knowledge of our dedicated Dutch counterparts and global Nedap partners.”

Becoming a true Nedapper goes beyond understanding our market

“It is fantastic to see how working with other parts of our Global Nedap community pays off. But it is not as easy as it sounds,” Claudia adds. “We understand our market and the impact each individual makes to achieve success in the industries we touch. But becoming a true Nedapper goes beyond that. Exercising the Nedap culture, compared to years of American corporate influence, is a constant effort in reprogramming our American-centric mannerisms.” To bridge that gap, we have taken great strides to embody the entrepreneurial spirit. “Identifying the variances in our global communications and encouraging each other to share ideas that may have been hidden behind a quiet demeanor and instilling confidence of freedom of expression, we exercise healthy debates in a respectful and productive way, even gain more of the verbal directness we sometimes find bold,” Claudia continues. “We take extra care to foster a safe space for unrestrained communication, moving beyond all we’ve been taught over years in our country’s manager driven hierarchal corporate environment.”

So, it feels new and it may still feel a little unusual also, but their focus is clear: to evolve and to incorporate the best of themselves with the best of the Nedap culture. Jessica: “We have heard it, we see it and we feel it when we are at Groenlo Headquarters. Being immersed in the Nedap culture feels like drinking from the fountain of youth. It is like nothing else, it is almost a corporate utopia, very energizing. Our next chance to capture growth lies within ourselves.”
