My job mixes theory with hands-on work

4 questions to Eveline @ Nedap Livestock Management

Hi! My name is Eveline de Pont, and I’m the Product Owner of SmartTag Solutions at the Livestock Management business unit. That means I coordinate all the developments related to our cow sensors.

Why did you decide to work at Nedap?

I chose to work at Nedap because we develop incredibly nifty products together. This, with the aim of making end users, in this case livestock farmers, and their farms more successful and productive. I noticed from my very first day here that you’re given the responsibility to make a substantial contribution to this development. You’re also given  the space to do things that energise you. I still feel this energy every day, so I know I made the right decision.

Can you describe a typical working day?

What makes my work so enjoyable is how it mixes theory with hands-on work. For example, I might organise meetings with different teams in the morning, where developers come together to exchange the latest developments and discuss the challenges we have to solve together to achieve our goal. My afternoon could then take me to a company to test if a new concept works on a technical level, and carry out studies to see if it also meets the needs of end customers.

“I think it's great how we help each other progress at Nedap, and I learn a lot from the people around me.”

What do you want to achieve at Nedap?

What I really like about Nedap is that you’re allowed to do your own thing, and you’re supported in achieving the goals you’ve set yourself. You’re also given the space you need to grow at a pace that suits you, both as a person and in terms of your responsibilities.

I started out as an intern four years ago as part of my Master’s in Agrotechnology at Wageningen University. Then I started to work as a data analyst, and a year ago I became a product owner. I think it’s great how we help each other progress, and I learn a lot from the people around me. My ambition is to continue growing in the same way, in terms of the responsibilities that will suit me in the future.

What does nobody know about you?

Ten years ago, I’d never have imagined that this girl from the south of the Netherlands would end up in the east of the country. Fortunately, everything’s turned out great. I enjoy going to work every day, and I’m also getting involved in life in Enschede. I joined a beekeeping association, and I have two hives myself. I actually feel completely at home in these beautiful surroundings.

Are you ready to change the world?

Do you enjoy coming up with solutions to practical problems? And do you enjoy working with others? If so, you’ll certainly feel at home in our organisation. Check your opportunities or submit an open application.
