Identification Systems
Nedap's vehicle identification techniques are used in all kinds of areas. For example, to achieve a safe, fast and comfortable flow at entrances and exits of parking buildings, airports, business parks and cities.
One important technology is automatic license plate recognition (ANPR) technology. An ANPR camera reads vehicle license plates by means of optical character recognition (OCR). Nedap's high-end ANPR camera enables long-distance and free-flow identification of vehicles, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications.
The main question of this thesis is: what is possible based on low-cost hardware and the latest software techniques? Think about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). With your thesis assignment, you will compare current high-end ANPR technology and the latest image acquisition techniques on low-cost hardware side by side. After preliminary research on the most suitable technique and method, you will implement the chosen ANPR software. In addition, the assignment can be expanded to include:
- Vehicle type verification. Consider the make, type and color.
- Classification of the type of vehicle. Is it a passenger car, truck, camper, or still a car with a caravan?
