Graduation Research – Data Anonymization

  • Location Groenlo
  • Business unit Healthcare

What are you going to do?

The healthcare sector processes vast amounts of personal data, including sensitive medical information. Healthcare organizations must comply with strict regulations regarding the protection and retention of personal data (GDPR, WGBO), while also aiming to use data for analysis and innovation. Data anonymization can be a solution, but it also presents challenges.

In this graduation research project, you will investigate how data anonymization can contribute to both privacy protection and data-driven decision-making in healthcare. You will map out how healthcare organizations handle personal data and assess the impact of anonymization on internal processes as well as customer experience. Additionally, you will explore how data anonymization could be implemented within the Ons Suite and which methods and tools would be most suitable.

Based on your findings, you will develop a business case that substantiates why resources should be allocated to further implement data anonymization within the Ons Suite. Your work will help ensure that developers at Nedap Healthcare can implement the necessary improvements and that the software meets the required standards for data anonymization.

Your responsibilities

  • Conduct research: Investigate how healthcare organizations handle personal data and the challenges they face regarding privacy and compliance.
  • Interviews and impact analysis: Speak with customers and internal stakeholders to analyze how data anonymization could affect privacy, compliance, and operational processes.
  • Explore potential implementation: Assess how data anonymization could be implemented within the Ons Suite and to what extent it aligns with user needs and legal requirements.
  • Map technical and business opportunities: Deep dive into data anonymization methods and tools and examine how they can be applied within a software environment.
  • Develop a business case: Justify the benefits, risks, and implementation possibilities of data anonymization to allocate resources for its development and implementation.
