Internship – Embedded Software Engineering

Do you want to gain hands-on experience as an Embedded Software Engineer within an innovative company? Then this is your chance! As an Embedded Software Engineer intern you will work for about half a year to automate integration testing within our team. Your main goal is to develop firmware for the interface board that acts as a crucial connection between our test framework and the physical product. In addition, you will work on integrating the interface board into the test framework.

In short, a versatile and hands-on internship assignment, where you will directly contribute to the quality of our products.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement firmware for the interface board, adhering to the specifications and requirements of the test framework and the physical product;
  • Integrate the interface board into the existing test framework and ensure that all components work together seamlessly;
  • Perform testing and debugging of the developed firmware and test framework to identify and resolve any issues;
  • Document the developed software, including preparing manuals and technical specifications for future use and maintenance;
  • Actively collaborate with firmware developers, testers and hardware developers to monitor project progress.

Your team

You will work in a dynamic team consisting of firmware developers, testers and hardware developers. The team is highly motivated and there is an informal atmosphere where humor and sociability are paramount.

Our offer

As an intern or graduation project student at Nedap, you can work either remotely or on our amazing campus in Groenlo, in consultation with your team. The choice is yours. You will have plenty of space to take the lead in your assignment, with personal leadership and individual responsibility being central. You will collaborate with passionate professionals from whom you can learn a lot.

As a token of our appreciation for your efforts, we organize a 'Nedap Student Day' every six months, a fun day with all interns, graduation project students, and working students at Nedap. Additionally, we offer a monthly internship or graduation project allowance ranging between €325 and €650 per month. If the collaboration is mutually satisfactory, there is a chance for a job at Nedap. Many students have stayed after their assignment!

Required experience and skills

  • Education level: HBO, preferably in the direction of Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science or similar study;
  • Experience with microcontrollers and communication protocols such as SPI and UART;
  • Basic knowledge of programming skills in C in combination with microcontrollers (python is optional);
  • Affinity with hardware is a plus;
  • Command of the Dutch language is a plus;
  • Independence and the drive to take on challenges.

Because of the hardware you will be working with, we expect you to be at the office a lot. In consultation you could work one day at home.
