Marjolein is looking for the ideal match, with a heart for technicians

Marjolein Evers is one of our recruiters and is responsible for the recruitment of technical mediors and seniors. On a daily basis, she is in contact with software and hardware developers, and data scientists. Technical people have her heart. “They are inspirational people with a high level of education who truly add something to our company.”

A dynamic organization

“Nedap is active in seven markets including healthcare, the agricultural sector, and retail,” says Marjolein, who has worked at Nedap since last November. “The beauty of our work, developing high-quality hardware and software products, is that we deliver socially relevant products.” By this, she means, for example, technology developed by Nedap Livestock Management that allows livestock farmers to monitor the behavior of their animals. The technology ensures that animals can be cared for on the basis of their individual needs. Improving animal welfare and providing a return for the farmer. Another example is the software application of Nedap Healthcare, which ensures that family members can read a patient’s medical file in real-time. For example, a daughter can see at work how her father was doing that day and what has been discussed with doctors and caregivers.”

"The amount of freedom is nice for a lot of people, but it's not for everyone"

Own responsibility

“We notice that many technical people are looking for a job that makes a difference in society. Combined with the way we work, it means that highly skilled technical people like to work for us.” Marjolein explains there is little hierarchy within the organization. “Everyone’s opinion is valued and if you have a good idea and can back it up with the right arguments, there is always room to work it out. A totally different example is that we do not keep track of holidays or work hours. We have a culture of trust. “That amount of freedom is nice for a lot of people, but it’s not for everyone,” she says. “We look for the “type of entrepreneur with a sense of responsibility.”

Therefore, when we hire someone, we find it very important that he or she fits our culture. So it’s not just the technical skills that count, but also the fit with the team and the organization is super important.”

Qualitative match

Is that possible at a time when technically trained people are looking for jobs and many companies are desperately short of them? “Yes it is,” says Marjolein, who points out that she is looking for the right candidates. “I always go for a qualitative match. That may mean that a vacancy is open a little longer. In the end, we always find the right person.”

I came back for the space and the people

Marjolein enjoys living and working in the East of the Netherlands. She grew up in the Achterhoek, studied in Groningen, and lived in Utrecht, but praises the type of people here and therefore moved back to the region in 2020. “The down-to-earthiness appeals to me. What I also like is that everyone is equal. Everyone is approachable and whether you have just graduated or have a lot of experience, your opinion and your ideas matter just as much as anyone else’s. That’s what I like about working here in the East and also at Nedap.
