Sytze Loor @ Nedap Healthcare
Hello, I’m Sytze. I’m a Product Owner and Team Captain and have worked at Nedap since January 2020.
What does no one know about you?
I originally trained as a secondary school teacher in social studies. But I always loved software development. Eventually, I was able to turn my hobby into a career. I also spent two years working in Sweden!
Role within Nedap?
Together with a team of software developers and support engineers, I’m working on Caren, a personal health environment for consumers. As a product owner, I devise the planning for its further development. And as team captain, I coach and assess the performance of my colleagues. We’re constantly discussing ways of creating added value for our 350,000 monthly users. And we work in fixed sprints of 2 weeks, with daily stand-ups, retrospectives and planning sessions. During the sprints, we try to focus on what functionally we want to add. Naturally, innovating the tech behind it is important, but the devs usually work it out amongst themselves.
What’s your code?
Ruby on Rails and an Angular/Vue.js combo.
What attracted you to Nedap?
After almost 10 years of working both as an employee and a self-employed person, I was looking for flexibility and somewhere I could express my entrepreneurial spirit. One of the best things about being a freelancer is having the freedom to plan your days, so it was great to discover I could still do that. In the work I do, freedom and responsibility go hand in hand which also suits me well. Plus, I get to take responsibility for a product but also work directly with the tech. So it’s not either-or but both and more. Exactly what I was looking for.
Nedap ambitions?
My focus at the moment is on developing our very beautiful and important product. We still have a lot of work to do until it gets to where we want it to be. Aside from that, there are no shortages of opportunities at Nedap, especially in my role as team captain. As the team grows, so do I.
