As a Analytics Engineer at Nedap Healthcare, you will build a data platform that gives our account managers, developers and customers insight into the use of our software. How quickly are new features adopted? Which workflows could be more user-friendly? Which components are not yet used by a customer? These are a few examples of data-driven insights that allow us to improve our products and better support our customers. 

The data platform is the central place where product usage data is collected, cleansed, analysed and visualised. This involves data from hundreds of thousands of users, a wide variety of customers and a broad product portfolio. 

We build and maintain this platform in-house (no cloud providers). In the future, we also want to use this platform to enable machine learning pipelines. 

The platform is still at an early stage. There is a basic platform running that has proven its value, but we are now ready for the next step. We are looking for a scalable, easy-to-maintain solution. So you're not starting from scratch, but you still have plenty of room and flexibility to build the architecture you think is best.

Your team

You will be working in a small new team and will also be part of the Data Science guild. These are colleagues with different data expertises (Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Data Analysts) who work on different products and projects within Nedap Healthcare. 

Within Nedap Healthcare there are a large number of product teams that develop and maintain software products. Because the data platform is relevant for all these teams, you will have a lot of contact with different colleagues outside your team. 

In a post-coronary situation, you can work partly at home. The aim is to work at the office at least 2 days a week.

Required experience and skills

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer with some work experience. As an Analytics Engineer, you work on the interface of data science, analytics and software engineering. You will ensure that raw data is transformed into usable, reliable, available information that can be used for analyses. You will determine the best transformation steps and modelling by, for example, building data pipelines (DAGs in Airflow). This requires not only experience with software best practices such as versioning, monitoring and CI/CD, but also a good feel for the possibilities and limitations of the data. An important input in modelling is a clear picture of the use case; how does this information help us as an organisation in making decisions? You are also the point of contact for colleagues and help them with all kinds of questions about the data platform and the available data and insights. In addition, you have the following skills and capabilities:

  • Basic Python programming experience;
  • SQL queries;
  • Knowledge of and experience with BI concepts (ETL/ELT, dimensional modelling, data warehouses, data stores) and BI tooling (e.g. PowerBI);
  • Nice to have: knowledge of and experience with dbt;
  • Nice to have: affinity with UX and/or product development.
