Back-end Developer

As a Back-end Developer at Nedap Retail, you work in a team on applications written in Java or Kotlin. You also actively contribute to the development direction of our products.

As more and bigger retailers are using our applications, we launched a second instance of our multi-tenant SAAS solution in the USA at the beginning of this year, in addition to our European instance. In addition, developments in the field of data analysis (machine learning) make new applications possible with the (stock) data collected by our platform.

Nedap Retail develops innovative solutions for retailers worldwide. With our solutions for inventory management and security, we guarantee retailers that they will always have the right product available for their customers. To achieve this, Nedap Retail develops state-of-the-art RF, RFID hardware and Cloud-Based software services. With this great combination of hardware and software, we are able to provide shop employees, managers and the headquarters of retailers with the right information in an accessible way.

Your team

The Nedap Retail Services team is an enthusiastic group of colleagues with different development backgrounds, from front-end development to mobile development. Self-reliance and personal responsibility are very important for us. This means that you will search for knowledge and solutions yourself. The 'culture' in our department and within our team can best be described as free, open and social. What binds us is the passion to create user-friendly and technically advanced solutions, which our customers enjoy working with every day.

You also work a lot with the Devices team in Retail, which includes hardware, firmware and product engineers. The contact between these teams is good.

Required experience and skills

We are looking for a passionate Back-end Developer who knows his/her way around a complex software landscape. We don't define experience as years of work, but as delivering quality. Do you have new ideas? Great! We are always looking for ways to improve our products or things to learn from. 

Furthermore, you recognise yourself in the following:
  • You have at least a higher professional education;
  • You have experience with an object-oriented language;
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, API development, Elastic Search, Kafka and Cassandra are an advantage;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages.

About Nedap Retail

Store employees spend a lot of their time searching for products and managing stock. Our RFID technology for article security and in-store inventory management makes it very easy to monitor and control all processes in the store in real time. Employees no longer have to waste time searching for items, meaning they can devote greater attention to customers.
