As a Firmware Engineer at Nedap Retail, you will help develop our products and contribute to research because we try to get the most out of the hardware possibilities and physical laws. All our products are equipped with advanced algorithms that are developed in-house, which are very distinctive and will become increasingly important. Our products are always online and (wherever they are in the world) connected to our cloud environment. For more information about our products, please visit our website: nedap-retail.com.

Within our R&D department, we work with state-of-art RFID technology and advanced processing platforms and signal processing. This includes concepts such as beamsteering, DSP and Angle of Arrival. In these developments, we use real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, C++, Java and Python. During development, we use hardware that has both an FPGA and a CPU. The challenge is to use the available processing power as efficiently as possible. We are also working on sending data as quickly as possible to the cloud environment for further processing, with the help of web sockets.

Your team

You will be working in the Devices Team of our R&D department. This is a multidisciplinary team, in which sub-teams exist of firmware, hardware and product engineers. This team consists of people with different ages and areas of interest. There is always a close collaboration with hardware and product engineering such that we have a smoothly working Devices team that delivers state-of-the-art products. Assertiveness, resourcefulness and a positive critical attitude are appreciated.
