Have you just finished your studies and ready to take the first step in your career? Are you pragmatic, do you prefer to work in a team and do you want to develop continuously? Then we'd like to get to know you and we hope to have a (digital) (non-alcoholic) drink with you soon. Nedap Retail is looking for a Junior Back-end Developer

Nedap Retail develops innovative solutions for retailers worldwide. With our solutions for stock management and security, we guarantee retailers that they will always have the right product available for their customers. To achieve this, Nedap Retail develops state-of-the-art RF, RFID hardware and Cloud-Based software services. Through this beautiful combination of hardware and software, we are able to provide store employees, managers and the headquarters of retailers, with the right information in an accessible way.

The market we work in is cool. We are in the processes of the largest retailers worldwide. And how cool is it that thousands of devices communicate with your software?' (Eerde, Front-end Developer).

Because more and more and bigger retailers are using our applications, we launched a second instance of our multi-tenant SAAS solution in the USA at the beginning of this year, in addition to our instance in Europe. In addition, the developments in the field of data analysis (machine learning) do not stand still either, making new applications possible with the (stock) data collected by our platform.

As Junior Back-end Developer at Nedap Retail you will work in a team on a number of applications written in Java or Kotlin. You will also actively contribute to the development direction of our products.

Your team

The Nedap Retail Services team is an enthusiastic group of colleagues with different development backgrounds, from front-end development to mobile development. You have many colleagues you can learn from!

Self-reliance and personal responsibility are of paramount importance to us. This means that you will search for knowledge and solutions yourself. The 'culture' in our department and within our team can best be described as free, open and social. What binds us is the passion to create user-friendly and technically advanced solutions, which our customers enjoy working with every day.

'We want to develop ourselves as a team and we are not afraid to make mistakes either.' (Jaap, Team captain Software Services)

Our offer

Of course we offer excellent primary and secondary conditions. You are responsible for your own working hours and vacations. Nobody keeps track of this, we rely on your own responsibility. In addition, we offer you the means to fulfill your responsibilities. Financially too, things are well arranged here. In addition to your salary and vacation allowance, Nedap offers a 13th month, a profit-sharing scheme and the option of shares. We also have a very attractive pension scheme. But above all, we invest in your development! Nedap does not have a pot for your development. In addition to our extensive induction programme and personal development programme, we would like to explore your potential with you.

Required experience and skills

We are looking for a passionate Junior Back-end Developer who knows his/her way around a complex software landscape. For us, delivering quality is more important than experience. Do you have new ideas? Super good! We are always looking for ways to improve our products or things to learn from.

Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following:

  • You have at least college level work and thinking;
  • You have experience with an object oriented language;
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, API development, Elastic Search, Kafka and Cassandra is a plus;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages;
  • You are willing to work in an on-call service outside working hours.
