(Junior) Innovation Engineer

As an innovation engineer you are hands-on in translating new ideas into prototypes. In the early stages of concept development you have the freedom to find the best technical principle for the solutions of the future. You are responsible for delivering a working prototype that answers a market demand. You can immediately translate an abstract idea or a sketch on the back of a beer mat into a product idea. For you, nothing is unmanageable and you will build a prototype for any idea in a few days. Where necessary, you collaborate with other internal or external specialists to make the product idea work. Your creativity knows no bounds although you maintain a good balance between progressiveness and feasibility.

Your team

You will be working in a newly established team that is jointly responsible for progressive innovation. From the very beginning, discovering a potential new idea, to delivering a proven concept with business case to Product Management. The team consists of specialists who search externally for new disruptive market and technology opportunities but also convert hands-on ideas into concepts which are immediately tested by means of proof of concepts. In short, a group of pioneers who complement each other and together like to push the boundaries of what is possible in the market.

Required experience and skills

  • You are able to switch quickly to a totally different line of thinking in order to arrive at the most promising solution as quickly as possible;
  • You are in your element in the early stages of development and can deal well with rapid changes in direction;
  • You are a creative 'all-round' engineer. You can translate a conceptual idea into a testable prototype;
  • You are curious and eager to learn. You find it natural to keep your knowledge up to date in the rapidly changing world;
  • Education level HBO/WO (technical education).
