What are you going to do?

As a Ruby-developer in the Logistics tribe of our Business Unit Healtcare, you work on projects that help healthcare professionals deliver the right care at the right time, addressing the challenges currently faced by the healthcare sector. There is a capacity shortage, which, combined with the desire to provide every client with the level of care they need, makes scheduling a constant challenge.

Our software helps address this challenge by assisting healthcare organizations in optimizing the use of their available capacity. We are also continuously working on improvements to ensure the software evolves with the market and remains future-proof.

Your responsibilities

Your role will involve a combination of implementing structural improvements, developing new features, and engaging in discussions and collaboration with colleagues to determine the best ways to keep our software innovative and maintainable.

Your team

The team is a small, multidisciplinary team comprising developers, a UX designer, and a product owner. Everyone meets in the office once a week; on other days, you can choose to work from home or at the office.

We are a close-knit team dedicated to improving the workflows of our end users. Our mission is to help healthcare professionals solve logistical challenges by providing smart solutions for creating healthy and efficient schedules. We work on multiple applications within a larger suite, but the primary focus is on Ons Rooster. Our application features a React/Redux frontend paired with a Ruby on Rails backend.

Required experience and skills

You thrive in an environment with a high degree of freedom and independence, and you have the drive to continuously develop yourself further. You work meticulously, are engaged, and are not afraid to innovate and collaborate to find the best solution. Do you recognize yourself in the following?

  • Workexperience: 7+ years of experience in back-end/full-stack software development, with at least 3+ years of experience in Ruby/Rails development.
  • Software knowledge: Experience in component-driven frontend development with React/Redux is a plus.
      Other skills:
  • Familiarity with and preference for agile software development practices (such as test-driven development, behavior-driven development) that enable safe and iterative software delivery with positive feedback loops
  • Knowledge of and a clear vision for building a structured, scalable, and maintainable codebase.
  • Enthusiasm for coaching colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience to help them grow and succeed in their roles.
  • Language skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; speaking Dutch is a bonus.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation during office hours.
