Ruby on Rails Developer

  • Location Groenlo
  • Business unit Retail
As a Ruby on Rails Developer at Nedap Retail, you will work together in a team on a number of applications written in a combination of Ruby on Rails Backend and a Vue Front-end. One of the applications is used by retail employees worldwide to check the inventory of their stores and make sure they have the right stock.

Last year - at the beginning of the corona crisis - we took on a project to start using the data coming out of our security gates in a different way. Retailers were still only allowed to allow a specific number of customers into the store. We then developed a totally new application based on existing data streams in a few weeks. The solution shows on a screen how many people are in the store and whether more people are allowed into the store. Many retailers are still using this solution in their stores.

Nedap Retail develops innovative solutions for retailers worldwide. With our solutions for inventory management and security, we guarantee retailers that they always have the right product available for their customers. To achieve this, Nedap Retail develops state-of-the-art RF, RFID hardware and Cloud-Based software services. Through this beautiful combination of hardware and software, we are able to provide store employees, managers and the head office of retailers, with the right information in an accessible way.

With developments in the market, there is an opportunity to expand the ruby on rails team.

'The market we work in is cool. We are in the processes of the biggest retailers worldwide. And how cool is it that there are thousands of devices communicating with your software?" (Eerde, Front-end Developer)

Your team

The Nedap Retail Services team is an enthusiastic group of colleagues with different development backgrounds, from front-end development to mobile development. Self-reliance and personal responsibility are of paramount importance to us. This means that you search for knowledge and solutions yourself. The 'culture' in our department and within our team can best be described as free, open and social. What binds us is the passion to create user-friendly and technically advanced solutions that our customers enjoy working with every day.

You also work a lot with the Devices team at Retail which includes hardware, firmware and product engineers. The contact between these teams is good.

'We want to develop ourselves as a team and are also not afraid to make mistakes.' (Jaap, Team Captain Software Services)

Our offer

Of course, we offer excellent primary and secondary conditions. For example, you are responsible for your own working hours and vacations. No one keeps track of this; we rely on your own responsibility in this regard. In addition, we offer you the means to fulfill your responsibilities. Financially, things are also well organized here. In addition to your salary and vacation pay, Nedap has a 13th month, a profit distribution and the possibility of shares. We also have a very attractive pension scheme. But above all, we invest in your development! Nedap has no pots for your development. In addition to our extensive induction program and personal development program, we are happy to look at your potential with you.

  • You have at least hbo working and thinking level;
  • You have experience with Ruby on Rails;
