In the role of Embedded Software Engineer, you will co-develop our products and contribute to research, where we strive to exploit the full potential of hardware capabilities and laws of physics. Within our R&D department, we work with the latest RFID technologies to develop innovative and user-friendly products for our customers. Our products are focused on online functionality and seamless integration with our own cloud environment. We develop applications for an embedded Linux system in Rust, C, C++ and Java. We also create kernel drivers to interact with FPGA, enabling high-speed data processing. If necessary, we develop firmware applications for peripheral devices. Python is used for supporting software, such as testing and prototyping. We do this so that we stay ahead with our technology solutions for Retailers. In short, we are constantly thinking with our team about the store of the future.

Your team
You will work in the firmware team of our R&D department that focuses specifically on the software for our products. This team is multidisciplinary and consists of ten people with different ages and areas of interest. The team is committed to different projects. The team consists of a mix of colleagues who work from home a lot and colleagues who (almost) always work in the office. Based on your activities, you will make your own wise choice in this. It is a team that values a positive critical attitude and where there is always room for your own input.Our offer

Required experience and skills
You are assertive and outspoken. You dare to express your opinions and ideas. You are focused on software (80%) and also have an affinity with hardware in order to get the most out of it. You enjoy working on research issues in order to achieve maximum results;In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role as an Embedded Software Engineer;
- You have a college or university degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or similar;
- You have experience with Rust or are willing to become proficient in this;
- Experience with one of the following technologies is a plus, but not necessary:
- RFID
- Development and testing of (distributed) embedded systems.
- Rust, Python, C, C++, VHDL, Java
- CI/CD (GitHub Actions)
- Yocto Project (BitBake), MQTT, QEMU
- FPGA
- You have a good command of the English language and preferably speak Dutch.
