What are you going to do?

As Technical Support & presales Engineer you enable our partners and customers to install, maintain and expand our security solutions by providing them with training, technical support and consultancy using your expert knowledge of our security solutions. This role combines both in depth technical skills with a flavor of sales by means of consultative selling.  


In the security industry, we develop high-quality solutions that are offered both on-premises and as SaaS solutions. Our products focus on Identity and Access Management processes, with the goal of simplifying configuration and management for our customers. End users appreciate our solutions for creating a secure and trusted environment for their employees, while effectively preventing unauthorized access. Our solutions are used worldwide by more than 2,500 leading companies and help organizations optimally combine security and accessibility 

Your responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for the functioning of systems, networks and/or hardware (including remedying disruptions) to business partners and/or customers; 
  • Provide training to colleagues, business partners or end-users, develop training programs with a focus on excellent customer experience and self-reliance of business partners and end-users. As this is a substantial element of the role, you must be able to confidently deliver training sessions to engineers of varying levels of expertise;
  • Develop and grow your own knowledge about our access control solutions by testing new functionalities, integrations and providing input for their documentation; 
  • Participate in and/or leads complex projects together with business partners from the perspective of the own area of expertise; 
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement to further increase the scalability of the team and our solutions; 
  • Play an advisory role in providing technical support in our sales processes; including being part of a presentation/pitch team and delivering compelling product demonstrations;
  • Advise and provide product or selling information to external stakeholders up to management level; 
  • Develop strong relationships with end-users and business partners to continuously improve collaboration;
  • Assist and participate in events.

Your team

In the role of Technical Support & pre-Sales Engineer you will be part of the Channel Development team of Nedap Security. The team consists of both technical and commercial people who work from our office in Reading, our head office in the Netherlands and various other locations in Europe and are spread all over the world. As part of the team, we think it is important that you are an open-minded colleague with good communication skills. It goes without saying that you actively support good coordination with and among colleagues. Nedap is a flat organization and therefore offers a lot of freedom in your work and planning. This makes independence and personal responsibility very important.

Required experience and skills

  • Qualifications and experience: An education in IT or a similar field and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a customer service / pre-sales / technical support role, ideally in the security/access control industry; 
  • Technological expertise: In depth knowledge about IT infrastructure, networking, SaaS/Cloud, electrical engineering, databases, software, as well as hardware; 
  • Commercial expertise: General theoretical knowledge of and hands-on experience with sales, an active listener, recognizing optimization potential in our business partners and customers; 
  • Problem solving: Logical thinking and ability to work through complex issues step by step, in difficult situations you work confidently and goal-oriented;  
  • Communication: Good communicative properties, able to advise, convince and influence stakeholders from different organizational levels. Capable of clearly articulating complex technical concepts, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
